Heavy Equipment Operator - Construction Services Division

Mainline Services is seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators to grow our expanding Construction Services team. This experienced operator will safely and efficiently operate a variety of heavy equipment for excavation, grading, back-filling, hauling and loading.

Essential Functions

• Operates heavy equipment (excavators, bulldozers, scrapers, skid steer loaders, haul trucks, tractors, etc.) used in construction and utility projects.  

• Observes and examines colored flags and ground markings indicating the location of underground utilities and structures.

• Excavates to dimensions as specified by construction drawings, sketches, grade markers, and/or verbal instructions.

• Performs back-filling and grading operations to specified grade.  Loads dump truck with excavated soils or building materials such as stone, sand, aggregate, or asphalt.

• Performs preventative maintenance such as general equipment cleaning, checking fluid levels, lubrication, maintaining tires pressures, and changing implements or attachments.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.

• 1+ years of experience with medium and heavy equipment operation.

• Must have a valid Driver’s License.

• Strong work ethic, reliability, and physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Additional Job Duties if Applicant has a Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License

  • Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspection of trucks, trailers, and equipment in accordance with company policy and D.O.T. regulations.
  • Drives tractor-trailer to/from job sites, inspects loads, and machinery being transported.
  • Verifies transportation permits (if CDL certificated) to ensure that specifications for overweight and oversize loads/equipment are accurate.
  • Responsible for loading, unloading and safe transportation of equipment from job site.

Work Environment

Regularly works in outdoor weather conditions and near mechanical moving parts. Possible exposure to distracting/uncomfortable noise levels and vibration. Possible exposure to fumes or airborne particles that may affect respiration and skin.

Physical Demands

Sitting, standing, walking, driving, climbing/ladders, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs., talking, hearing, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
